The man who gave up fine dining for a perfect cup of coffee is just as addicted to great shoe style.

With every corner of the capital of Telangana seemingly gifted its culinary emporium, there are endless opportunities to eat well in Hyderabad, from street food to a panoply of regional dishes, sometimes, all you need is a good cup of coffee.

However, the city’s caffeine scene can be vaguely understood as the pre-and post-arrival of the Roast Coffee Culinary Xperience at Banjara Hills, now popularly known as Roast CCX, in early 2024.

Roast CCX isn’t just a regular coffee spot merely embiggened. It is a complete coffee experience. In an in-house bakery, one can watch the fresh bread and pastries-making process—a floor dedicated to teaching coffee amateurs.

However, I did not have a broad enough vocabulary to delineate the many tastes of coffee and everything that Roast CCX offers. I tip my hat to the food and beverage writers of the globe who don’t run out of superlatives for their subjects. 

I would rather strip this Coffee Masion deep to the rare talents it possesses. Hospitality artisans who breathe life into avant-garde equipment—be it their gigantic 20-foot-tall Loring S70 Peregrine roaster or waterjet frozen cake-cutting machine.  

The altitude and extension of the caffeinated empire (some sixty thousand sq. ft—enough to attend five hundred guests at one go) can pull anyone in.

However, once inside, Mr. Urvaksh Bharucha, Head Roaster & Beverage Manager, ensures that the aroma of perfect brew converts even the most unfamiliar to the flavor profile of fine coffee.

A luminary alumnus of IHM-Hyderabad, Mr. Bharucha honed the art of combining spirits before getting a “wake-up call” from the coffee industry.

His career in luxury Hospitality sprang from being a mixologist and F&B Executive in five-star hotels before a trainer on the cruise ship (Thanks! Rob) drove him to amenities of caffeinated domains.

Underpinned with perseverance and passion, he quickly earned credentials from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). His chore at Roast CCX demands such genuine enthusiasm and can not held as a 9-5 burden born to earn a living.

Passionate gentlemen often don’t have an intensity for their work alone. They often have a passion for life, frequently expressed through their fashion choices and personal style.

Mr. Bharucha dress-up so sprezzatura-ly that his fits are sometimes forgotten in the blizzard of his fascinating profession. One can only hope that in the future, we might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of his dressing concepts amidst his busy timetable.
