I have been the chief shoe critic of BestShoe99 since 2019, based in Jaipur.
What I Cover
I did not cover every shoemaker’s work and every atelier in the flesh— because I don’t have a large team of colleagues or a big budget backing me.
I am interested in writing about shoemakers who stand out for some reason—value, style, or maybe their passion—and putting them in a context that will help you make sense of the shoes they provide or the experience they try to deliver.
To find such shoemakers, I seek suggestions from those I’ve previously featured, including factory owners and their staff. I stay updated on new openings, check online reviews and images, prowl the streets of cities renowned for quality shoemaking, and try far more shoes than I write about.
My Background
Having worked as a rep of stone houses in Makrana, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jalore, and Madurai, I was well-versed in how proper shoes can make well-heeled clients tick. This inherent love for classic footwear and desire to write about them ultimately drew me to BestShoe99.
I have an M.B.A. in financial management from M.L.S University of Udaipur. I live in Jaipur with my family.
Journalistic Ethics
As a critic, I express my opinions and points of view about shoes and boots. However, my responsibilities are to readers of BestShoe99. I do not represent the shoe industry, nor do I accept gifts, money, or favors from those whom I might write about. BestShoe99 pays my work-related expenses.
